2026 Jan./Feb. Junior Group Tennis Lessons (Indoor Courts at the Oshawa Civic Recreational Complex)
2026 Session #1 (January/February) - registration is open
Tuesdays: Jan.6 - Feb.24, 8 weeks, cost: $220 + hst ( 1hour )
Wednesday: Jan.7 - Feb.25, 8 weeks, cost: $220 + hst ( 1hour )
Thursday: Jan.8 - Feb.26, 8 weeks, cost: $220 + hst ( 1hour )
Saturdays: Jan.3 - Feb.21, 8 weeks, cost: $220 + hst ( 1hour )
Saturdays: Jan.3 - Feb.21, 8 weeks, cost: $320 + hst ( 1.5 hour )
Sundays: Jan.4 - Feb.22, 8 weeks, cost: $220 + hst (1 hour )
The registration is open to anyone and is based on first come first served basis.
To obtain a detailed lesson schedule/information or to register, please select "ONLINE REGISTRATION" and log in to your account at matchpointtennis.ca. If you are new to Matchpoint Tennis please create and account and register.
If you are not sure which clinic is best for you, please give us a call to arrange a tennis evaluation. The cost of 30 min tennis evaluation is $40
Since each clinic can accommodate a maximum of 6 players, sign-up is based on a first come, first served basis.
To avoid disappointment, sign up early!
We only accept online registration. The form of payment is credit card or e-transfer.
To make a payment by e-transfer, please register online and send an e-transfer the same day of the registration to matchpoint.tennis@rogers.com. In the comment area please write the lesson participant's name and the program number. If the e-transfer will not received within 24 hours the system will cancel the registration.
To make a payemtn by credit card please process the payment online during the regisration.
Once a payment is received, the system will generate a receipt.
Plesae note, that there are no refunds once a program begins!
All 2026 Winter/Spring Junior Tennis Programs are run at the Oshawa Civic Recreational Complex, located at 99 Thornton Rd. South in Oshawa.
Please note, that there is no spectator policy at the dome. All parents are required to drop of their children at the indoor courts and pick them up uppon completion of the lesson. Parent can wait in the board room located right beside the entrance to the tennis courts. Due to no spectator policy junior group lessons are offered for children ages 4.5 and older. For younger children private lessons can be arranged.
Beginner
These group lessons are for children that have no or very little experience.
Special, low compression bounce balls, mini nets will be used. Players will be playing on a proper size of the court.
The focus will be on developing eye-hand coordination and rally skills. Juniors will be learning how to receive and send balls at different height and distance. The session will cover forehand, backhand volley and introduction to serve.

Low Intermediate
Low Intermediate Ages 7-9
These arrange lessons are for children that have completed at least one or two sessions of beginner lesson. Players registered for this program should be able to rally 3-4 times across the mini net continually.
Special, low compression bounce balls, mini nets and modified size of the court will be used.
The session will continues working on improving rally skills and the fundamentals: forehand, backhand ,volley, serve, return of serve with emphasizes of using proper grips and set-up for the ground strokes. The U9 group will be introduced to directional control. Basic rules and tennis etiquette will be introduced.
Low Intermediate Ages 10-14
These arrange lessons are for children that have completed at least one or two sessions of beginner lessons or are able to rally 3-4 times across the net at 3/4 of the court.
This session will continues working on improving rally skills, serve and return of serve. Proper grips on ground strokes, net play and serve will be emphasized. There will be introduction to overhead, basic tactics and strategy for singles and doubles as well as to directional control. Basic rules and tennis etiquette will be reviewed.

Intermediate
Junior Intermediate Ages 10-16
These group lessons are for children that have completed at least one or two sessions of low intermediate lessons or are able to rally 5-6 times across the net at full court. Players must be able to serve and return full court as well as have the knowledge of proper grips for ground strokes, serves and volleys.
Players will be introduced to phases of play (rallying, attacking, defending), spins (top spin and slice) and defensive lob . The group will continues mastering reception and projection skills previously learned in the low intermediate lessons (height, distance, direction). Proper court coverage will be emphasized for singles and doubles play.
